On August 31, 2020 the members of Hazlet Township Police Department joined together with our law enforcement leaders and partners to honor Chief Philip Meehan who is retiring. Chief Meehan has spent over 30 years serving his country and community.

He is a Marine Corps veteran of desert storm and In 1994 he started his law enforcement career with the Sussex County Corrections. In 1997 he was hired as a patrol officer at Lakehurst P.D. and after serving briefly there he was hired here at Hazlet P.D. Chief Meehan spent the next 23 years rising through the ranks of Hazlet Police. During that time he has shown excellent leadership to the men and woman of our agency, he has provided outstanding service to the Hazlet Community and he has touched many lives along the way. He will be missed by all that have worked with him throughout the years and who have served under his command.
