Operation Blue Angel is a program designed to enhance the safety and security of the Hazlet Township residents who may have difficulty unlocking their doors for first responders due to age or physical limitations. Through this initiative, the police department provides lockboxes to eligible residents at no cost, except for the requirement of supplying a spare key to be secured inside the box.
Only the police department has access to the lockbox codes, ensuring controlled and secure entry in case of an emergency. The lockboxes remain the property of the police department and are managed entirely by the officers. To participate, residents must complete two forms and submit them to the Lieutenant Nicholas Greene. After approval, officers will visit the resident’s home to install the lockbox—eliminating any concern for maintenance or remembering access codes. All lockbox information is securely stored in a police department database, ensuring swift and efficient emergency response when needed.
The two forms are below and can be emailed, hand delivered, or sent through USPS.
