Smart Strong Safe is a program developed by the Hazlet Township Police Department in partnership with Bayshore Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and 180 Turning Lives Around to educate young women on how they can protect themselves. The program begins with a short educational piece presented by 180 about Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault and other red flags to watch out for. The second portion of the program is run by instructors from Bayshore BJJ to teach basic yet valuable hands- on skills of self-defense to teach them techniques that can be used to increase their ability to avoid, respond, and escape from a sexual predator. The program is directed towards high school seniors and juniors, ages 16-18.Comfortable gym/sport attire recommended.
The program will be July 25, 2021 starting promptly at 9am at the Bayshore Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym located at 1444 NJ 36 Hazlet, NJ 07730. (Same plaza at Bowlero)
